What to Expect
Our First Conversation
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I'll ask about what brings you to counseling, your experiences, and what feels important for me to understand.
We'll also talk about confidentiality, what you can expect from counseling, and any questions you have. You don't have to share everything at once.
What Do Session Look Like?
Counseling is a conversation, but it's also a space to explore your experiences with curiosity and intention.
Some sessions may focus on everyday stressors or relationships. Others may involve exploring emotions, past experiences, or questions about yourself. I'll listen, ask questions, share observations, and offer perspectives when helpful.
Our work is collaborative. Your voice matters in shaping what we discuss and how we approach it.
Questions You Might Have
-
That's okay. We can begin with what's happening in your life, how you've been feeling, or anything that's been on your mind. There's no need to arrive with a prepared topic.
-
Not necessarily. Past experiences can be meaningful to explore, but we can focus on your current concerns and discuss your history when it's relevant and you're ready.
-
Some conversations can be difficult. You're welcome to tell me when something feels uncomfortable, and we can talk about how to approach it together
-
There isn't a single timeline. We can regularly discuss what's helpful, what you're looking for, and whether continuing counseling meets your needs
-
We'll discuss a schedule based on your needs, preferences, and appointment availability.
-
Online counseling may be an option depending on your location and whether telehealth is appropriate for your needs.
